Porky Pig and Daffy Duck are Earth’s only hope in the face of the threat of an alien invasion. The first theatrically released Looney Tunes film not distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures. Originally, the film was intended to be a streaming-exclusive release on the streaming service Max. After the company abandoned the release, the film was shipped to other distributors, with GFM Animation eventually acquiring worldwide distribution rights and adapting the film for theatrical release. Inside the meteor, when Daffy shows off his lever-using skills, he pulls the lever to lower the machine and pushes it to raise it. Porky does this later in the scene as well. However, when Porky and Petunia are tied up, Daffy pushes the lever forward and the machine lowers them anyway. As the credits roll, Porky Pig makes his classic declaration, «That’s it, folks!», only to be interrupted by Daffy Duck, who tells him that this isn’t the end of the movie and that they need a sequel. I really enjoyed the movie. The story is a little, well, crazy, but what can you expect from «Looney Tunes» anyway, but «Daffy Duck and Porky Pig» works like a movie. However, I must say that the action was very over the top. Sure, we’re talking about Looney Tunes here, more specifically Daffy Duck, but still. Then the joke fell a little short for me. There were undoubtedly some funny moments, but the real wit and humor that defines Looney Tunes was either missing or rare. But otherwise I can recommend the film for a hand-drawn animation film of the modern era. This review comes from Germany, where the film has already been released.
